Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Supports Alvin ISD Education Foundation as the Fun Run Title Sponsor for its 16th Annual Turtle Race
Houston (February 1, 2017) – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic is proud to be the Fun Run title sponsor for Alvin ISD Education Foundation 16th Annual Mustang Bayou Turtle Race on Saturday, Feb. 11 at National Oak Park in Alvin. This will be the fourth year for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic to serve as the title sponsor. The Kelsey-Seybold sponsored Fun Run will kick-off the days events at 9 a.m., followed by the Turtle Race at noon.
This year, the Kelsey-Seybold sponsored 5K Family Fun Run was officially certified and will be a timed race. Those interested in participating can register for the Fun Run by signing up online.
"Alvin ISD is a dynamic learning organization and we are proud to support an institution that is dedicated to excellence right in our community," said John Lyle, Vice President of Operations, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
After the conclusion of the Fun Run, vendor booths will offer visitors a chance to meet and greet with local businesses. At the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic booth, participants will receive free health screenings, hourly door prizes and an opportunity to meet real physicians. KelseyBear will also be out and about meeting kids and families!
Later, the adopted turtles are dropped into Mustang Bayou from the bridge along the Tom Blakeney Hike and Bike Trail at National Oak Park in Alvin. The turtles race down the bayou to the finish line near the Adoue Street Bridge where they are scooped out and the winners determined.
Community members, parents, students and staff are all encouraged to adopt turtles for the race. Winners will receive a variety of prizes such as $1,500 travel voucher, $1,000 shopping spree, iPad and more! All proceeds from the Turtle Race benefit the students and teachers in the Alvin ISD through Innovative Teaching Grants, campus grants and scholarships for students, teachers and paraprofessionals.
Turtles can be adopted for $5 by filling out an adoption form, available at all Alvin ISD campuses, the Alvin ISD Central Administration Building, Alvin-Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce, YMCA of Alvin, Alvin Community College and TDEC, Inc, as well as online at alvinisd.net/educationfoundation.
