Fraxel Laser Treatment

On this page:

Fraxel Laser Skin Resurfacing is FDA-approved and uses “fractional” laser technology to help smooth and refresh your skin with improved tone and texture. This in-office procedure helps reduce age spots, acne scars, sun damage and “laugh lines."

Because the Fraxel laser uses controlled, low levels of energy, there is less risk for “overdoing” a treatment. The Fraxel resurfacing treatment can be used on almost any area of your body, including the face, neck, hands and underarms. With knowledgeable Kelsey-Seybold Dermatology and Fraxel specialists, it’s even safe for those delicate areas around the eyes.

Call 713-442-1111, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. There’s no need to have a physician referral. However, the first appointment may only result in a consultation.

Note - Fraxel® is not covered by insurance and must be paid with cash or credit.

What to Expect

Fraxel only treats targeted problem areas, so the results are focused and effective.

Fraxel® is advanced technology. Fractional lasers penetrate top skin layers with light-based energy that stimulates collagen and resurfaces the top layer of your skin. What’s great is your skin's natural rejuvenation process helps reduce wrinkles, lines, age spots and scars by stimulating your own collagen.

Developed in 2001, Fraxel utilizes “fractional” resurfacing technology. Fractional resurfacing helps repair and rejuvenate by inducing the skin’s natural wound-healing responses. Fraxel only treats targeted problem areas, so the results are focused and effective.

The Day of the Procedure

The Fraxel® procedure is an in-office treatment performed in a private room at Kelsey-Seybold’s Tanglewood Clinic. The actual laser procedure usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes. Patients should consider wearing loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.

A soothing, topical anesthetic will be applied to your skin prior to laser treatment. The physician’s assistant will apply a thin layer of gel over the desired area receiving treatment. Then, a hand-held component will glide across your skin, delivering short bursts of light-based energy into the top layer of the targeted skin.

For optimal results, contingent on skin condition and the level of correction required, additional treatments may be performed at intervals recommended by the physician.

Note - Fraxel® is not covered by insurance and must be paid with cash or credit.
