Kelsey Seybold Clinic Expands Medical Specialties to its Growing Downtown Clinic Location

Houston (October 12, 2011) – Downtown Houston's only multispecialty practice, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – Downtown at The Shops, has added several new services to meet the needs of patients who live and work in the downtown area.

Adding to the existing six medical specialties offered, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – Downtown at the Shops now offers patients Cardiology care, Rheumatology care, Chiropractic care and Acupuncture services.

Kelsey-Seybold – Downtown at The Shops opened in March 2011 offering downtown's robust population primary and specialty care services including: Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics – Sports Medicine, Podiatry, Pulmonary Medicine and Dermatology. The four new services were brought downtown to answer the growing need for additional specialty care. Now accepting appointments are:

Cardiology
Ali Mortazavi, M.D., joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in 1993 and is the Chief of Cardiology. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and was recently named a "Super Doctor" by Texas Monthly magazine.
His areas of special interest include:

• General Cardiology
• Interventional Cardiology
• Lipid Management
• Transesopohageal Echocardiography

Dr. Mortazavi is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, American Medical Association, American Heart Association, Texas Heart Institute Cardiac Society and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.

Rheumatology
Kirkwood Johnston, M.D., joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in June 2011 and is a board-certified physician specializing in Rheumatology. Dr. Johnston also cares for patients at Main Campus and Clear Lake Medical Center. He speaks English, Spanish and German. Dr. Johnston completed medical school at the National University of Ireland at Cork in 2003 and in 2006, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. This was followed by a fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2008.

Chiropractic Medicine & Acupuncture Services
Roger Pringle, D.C., joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in 2001. He also cares for patients at the Main Campus, The Vintage and Spring locations. Dr. Pringle earned his Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine from Los Angeles College of Chiropractics. In December 1993, Dr. Pringle graduated from an internship at Whittier Chiropractic Health Center. He is board-certified by the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

"Since opening earlier this year the clinic has seen a 15 percent increase in patient visits, particularly those looking for specialty care outside of the Texas Medical Center."

In addition to primary and specialty care, the Downtown Clinic also provides routine diagnostic and ancillary services, including laboratory, X-ray, digital mammography, bone density screening and ultrasound services. Other services include allergy injections, pre-employment physicals, foreign travel exams, foreign travel immunizations, drug screenings, asbestos exams, hazardous materials/hazardous waste exams, Department of Transportation exams and United Kingdom Offshore Oil Association (UKOOA) physicals.

Patients also have the added convenience of filling prescriptions at the new Kelsey Pharmacy - Downtown located just across from the Downtown Clinic.
