Cardiology Services
Heart disease is the number one cause of death for men and women in the United States. The good news is, by reducing risk factors and knowing signs and symptoms, many types of heart disease are preventable. Kelsey-Seybold's cardiology team gives you the tools and insight you need to protect and improve the health of your most vital organ.
Our cardiologists offer the most advanced diagnostics, including:
- Coronary CT calcium scoring – helps predict a future cardiac event
- CT coronary angiogram – provides a noninvasive way to visualize coronary arteries without performing an invasive cardiac catheterization
- Echocardiogram – uses ultrasound to examine the heart
- Nuclear stress testing – measures blood flow to the heart while under stress
- Nuclear imaging – involves special cameras and a very low dose of radiation to see how your heart is functioning
- Echocardiography (or echo) – uses soundwaves to create moving pictures of the heart that show how well chambers and valves are working
- CT scanner – an advanced imaging tool that provides detailed pictures of the body and heart

Lipid Clinic
The cardiologists at Kelsey-Seybold’s Lipid Clinic aggressively manage unhealthy cholesterol levels in high-risk patients. Started in Houston, Texas in 1999 by Kelsey-Seybold Chief of Cardiology Dr. Ali Mortazavi, the Lipid Clinic has a documented history of success in preventing further disease progression in patients with coronary artery disease or other risk factors.
Our Primary Prevention Lipid Clinic (PPLC) was designed to assist patients with high cholesterol who don’t have known cardiovascular disease. The PPLC care team, directed by endocrinologist Tri Lee, MD, helps patients achieve their lipid goals through a multidisciplinary approach that includes nutrition and medication services. The clinic is located inside our Berthelsen Main Campus Endocrinology department.
If you’d like to learn more about our Lipid Clinic or need help controlling your cholesterol levels, ask your Kelsey-Seybold cardiologist or call our 24/7 Contact Center for more information. In most cases, you don’t need a referral to make an appointment at the Lipid Clinic.
